Occupational Health

A company contacted us about their IT Manager, who'd been off work for four months with a repetitive strain injury.

The employee had been provided with regular Med 3 certificates by their GP but little had been done to address her condition.

We decided that the employee would benefit from:

  • Physiotherapy
  • A workstation assessment
  • A phased return to work
We also contacted the Disability Employment Advisors to secure funding for voice-activated software and an ergonomic keyboard and mouse.

It was an approach that worked really well. Within a month, the IT Manager had returned to work, avoiding what could have been a lengthy absence that might even have resulted in a claim against the employer.

That's not the end of the benefits; the referral potentially saved the company around £15,000 (based on a salary of £42,000 and six months' sick pay), delays to the launch of a new IT system and, most importantly of all, the loss of a valued employee.
